What’s a WOSB or EDWOSB Applicant Supposed to Do?

NOTE: The Alaska PTAC has been renamed as Alaska APEX Accelerator. This change occurred on September 15, 2023. Learn why.

Businesses interested in using the new self-certify option to become a WOSB or a EDWOSB are in a confusing predicament. Stated simply, the SBA has launched a new portal to help women-owned businesses better manage the WOSB self-certification process – even though congress eliminated the statutory authority for self-certification more than a year ago.

Businesses can still try to use the self-certify portal but will need to kick start the review. Once the certification has been uploaded, the SBA has instituted a Temporary Verification Process that asks a contracting officer to send an email identifying the need to review the pending WOSB or EDWOSB in the repository. The SBA website has updated information and the proper email format. Clearly, a WOSB or EDWOSB will have to have good communication with a potential contracting agency.
