The Department of Interior issued a new regulation for those entities qualifying under the Buy Indian Act. Effective July 8, 2013, the new rule reduces the percentage of Indian ownership from 100 percent to a minimum of 51 percent. The new rule will also permit Indian businesses to participate in the DoD Mentor-Protégé Program without impacting their qualifications under the Buy Indian Act. See the final rule
