Effective January 1, 2018, DFARS 252.204-7012 requires federal prime and subcontractors doing business with the Department of Defense to be compliant with new federal cyber security regulations. The policy prescribed by those regulations states that “Contractors and subcontractors are required to provide adequate security on all covered contractor information systems.” (DFARS 204.7302)

These new regulations place responsibility for providing adequate cyber security squarely on the shoulders of covered prime and subcontractors. To avoid potentially severe consequences for noncompliance, understanding and proactively implementing these new regulations is critical. This workshop will feature a guest speaker Tab Wilkins, Regional Manager & Senior Technology Advisor from the NIST and a local IT service provider familiar with NIST 800-171 implementation.

This promises to be a very educational workshop and is designed to help you and your business understand the new requirements, develop secure systems and security controls, and avoid potentially serious negative consequences, which may include termination, False Claims actions, negative performance reviews, and more.
Topics include:

  • Understanding the NIST 800-171 regulations & requirements
  • The additional regulations applying to DoD contractors
  • Strategies to implement and maintain compliance on a budget
  • Review of acceptable policies & systems
  • Resources to assist your business with implementation
