FBI Warns of Ransomware ‘Gang’ Targeting Companies with Infected Universal Serial Bus (USB) Devices

Companies in the defense, insurance, and transportation sectors are reporting cyberattacks from a criminal hacking group known as FIN 7, aimed at deploying malware into target networks for later use in ransomware attacks.

As a critical DIB entity, your company is a likely target as well. The attack leverages malware-infected USB drives delivered by mail and/or parcel, masquerading as COVID advice from the government or as gift packages from Amazon. Please be vigilant to ensure your organization is not victimized by this attack!

To that end, Project Spectrum has posted a new blog that provides a description of the attack and suggestions on how to identify and best mitigate this threat.
