Did you know that the federal government must award 5% of its prime contracts dollars to woman owned business and this goal is being monitored by the Small Business Administration?  The federal Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB) and Economically Disadvantaged Woman-Owned Small Business (EDWOSB) Programs were implemented in February 2011 to assist level the playing field for WOSB/EDWOSB firms with federal contracts. The recent National Defense Authorization Act 2013 made significant changes to the program which will expand the opportunity for woman-owned businesses. The workshop will cover the basics of the program: eligibility and certification requirements; the federal government procurement process; and third-party certification. Obtain information on how to do business with the federal government and tips on marketing your firm to the federal agencies. There will be a live demonstration on how to find procurement opportunities online.  Handouts will be provided. This workshop is free and is recommended for small business firms that have already registered in the SAM database, but not mandatory. Workshop is presented by Marichu Relativo, SBA Procurement Center Representative. Hosted by the Alaska PTAC.
